Ursinia tenuiloba is one of the first plants to appear after fire. It plays an important role in early grassland recovery, adding colour to otherwise bare landscapes.

Ursinia tenuiloba is one of the first wildflowers to appear after grassland fires in KwaZulu-Natal, quickly covering burnt veld with bright yellow daisy-like blooms. The flowers track sunlight through the day and reveal reddish undersides as they close and droop in the evening. This resilient pioneer species plays an important role in post-fire grassland recovery and is pollinated by small pale green flies specially adapted to the flower structure.

Look for bright yellow daisy-like flowers emerging quickly after fire.

Best seen in recently burnt grassland.

Appears in spring following fire events.

No major safety concerns.
