Tritonia lineata is a small but intricate indigenous bulb species commonly seen flowering along Midlands roadsides in spring. Its pale yellow to apricot flowers are marked with fine dark veins that become visible on close inspection, giving rise to the common name “Pencilled Tritonia”. While most Tritonia species occur in the Cape, this species is well adapted to summer rainfall grasslands and adds subtle colour to open veld during the early flowering season.
